Home Sleep Testing vs. In-Lab Studies
Переглядів 32814 годин тому
If you suspect you have either obstructive sleep apnea or central sleep apnea, the first thing to do is have it diagnosed by taking a sleep study so that you can receive a prescription for a CPAP machine. But you have two options when it comes to polysomnography - either going to a sleep lab for testing by medical professionals, or purchasing an at-home sleep apnea test kit. Which is the better...

    Distilled water is NOT worth carrying around - non-distilled will not shorten machine life & limescale will be cleaned away anyway as part of your machine cleaning routine. Instead use tap [faucet] water or if you're concerned about additives, buy bottled drinking water. At home I just use UK tap water & all's well. For cleaning citric acid [lemon juice] is very good for all parts, tubes, nearly all masks [except foam-type masks] - better than the odours of vinegar or soaps!

    It’ll better if your description of the setting value means at 4:11, for example EPR Level 1, 2, or 3 means 3 is easiest breathing out effort, instead of “you can adjust the level to the most comfortable to you” since people have no idea what the number means that why they rely on instructional guide their decision like these

      Unfortunately, there's no way to see your past pressure settings on the machine or on the myAir app. You'll only see the average pressure. The noise from mine is coming directly from the motor speeding up and slowing down. How do you fix that?

    • @RespShop
      @RespShop 3 дні тому

      Increase in motor noise when the pressure increases is normal...to a certain extent. If you find the noise of the motor has gotten louder compared to before, you're best bet is to have your provider take a look at the machine. If it's under warranty, they'll have it replaced at no cost to you.

    At a certain point, it doesn't really matter. I've used the Resmed 10 and currently the 11. No matter if in a hotel sharing the room with a friend, or in my same bed with a girlfriend, the 11 is not loud enough to bother a soul, so it meets my minimum criteria. I'm just wondering if the Airmini would be too loud in a hotel situation but it's easy enough taking my 11 on trips with its great carry case.

    • @RespShop
      @RespShop 8 днів тому

      The AirMini is around 30 dBA, which is around the same noise level as someone whispering nearby. It shouldn't bother whoever's sleeping in the hotel room with you unless they are really noise sensitive. It actually sounds a bit like white noise to other people.

    How do adjust the pressure minimal to three, maximum to 10 please

    • @RespShop
      @RespShop 8 днів тому

      The minimum pressure only goes down to 4 on this machine. To change your pressure settings, you'll need to enter the provider menu: press and hold the ramp button and the round knob for about 5 secs. The FDA literally has a video warning about using UV and ozone specifically for CPAP. There is some evidence that UV will damage your gear and ozone may actually harm your health. Any channel that isn’t upfront about this probably isn’t trustworthy. Just use a soap and water and you’re good.

    You have suggested purchasing more components in an effort to try and make an expensive design flaw quieter. None of these suggestions will work. The filter housing with the exhale vent is the issue and needs to be redesigned. Resmed needs to listen to it's customers and release an updated solution yesterday.

    I love the profile, great face seal and ease of shifting around on the bed. I get a strong constant air stream coming out of the bottom of the mask. Losing 17L/hr. Is this normal? The internal flap seems to be working but the air stream is disconcerting. Is it working as designed? This is my first experience with it. Other masks I’ve used only expel air when you exhale, not constantly like this mask
